Nury Madrigal - Co-founderHello, my name is Nury Madrigal and I am the co-founder of Empowering Citizens. My passion for helping people with the naturalization process started when I had to go through it myself. I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco and thanks to my father’s hard work I arrived in the United States at the age of two as a legal permanent resident. When I was 18, I started the process and applied for my citizenship and took the civics exam. I went through this process only to realize that I was already a citizen and had to file a completely different form. After many years I became a United States citizen.
In 2017, I graduated from Mount Mary University with a bachelor’s degree in justice with the hopes of continuing to effect a real social change. I have had the privilege of working as a citizenship teacher and have worked as a legal assistant with two immigration attorneys in Milwaukee. Anyone who knows me knows my strong passion for helping others and my dedication to my community that has given and taught me so much. For that same reason, I have entered into this new journey of my life to use my knowledge and experience gained from my community to help them prepare for their citizenship exam. As someone who has gone through the United States immigration system, I know first hand and understand how challenging and complex it can be. I also understand that it is even much more challenging for those without education here in the United States and whose English is a second language. That is why it has been my dream to be able to help you feel confident that you too can become a citizen and active member of your community. I am ready to help you become a United States citizen!
